Article: Sustainable Harris Tweed

Sustainable Harris Tweed

As many of our loyal customers know, we work closely alongside the Harris Tweed mills in the Outer Hebrides.

Harris Tweed is a British Wool sheared from Cheviot flocks of sheep. When the cloth is woven it is both biodegradable and recyclable, therefore wonderful for the environment. For our boots and shoes it is a perfect fabric to work with especially for the Autumn Winter collections. It’s waterproof and breathable without any need for further finishes.

Harris Tweed is the only fabric protected by its own act of Parliament, The Harris Tweed Act 1993! Incredible!

Our new Chelsea Boot is a great example of the Mandarina Shoes partnership made with genuine Harris Tweed cloth.

We are proud to support the mills who export the tweed to over 50 countries globally and proud to be part of this deep Scottish heritage that has been around for generations and will be to come.
